We've completed Part Two of the release mentioned in the November 18 blog post. Though many of the improvements happened "behind the scenes" two new features deserve a special introduction.

Member Profiles

Member Profiles were created to help you get the most from your membership. In your Member Profile you are encouraged to add personal information and explore different areas of the website. This will help to orient you with the many things you can do at Archives.com like - ask members questions in the Community Forum, upload your GEDCOM, set Ancestor Alerts, and more!

When you fill in all of the information your Member Profile will be 100% complete. To access your Member Profile, log in to Archives.com and click the "Member Profile" link in the top right corner of your screen.

Ancestor Alerts

Now when you sign up for Archives you have the opportunity to set Ancestor Alerts, which will send you an email alert when we find matches for your ancestors in our database. You can add to or edit your Ancestor Alerts anytime from your Member Profile.

Here's how it works: say you are looking for your great uncle Ralph Mortenson of Delware and are unable to find any records on him. Don't despair! Set an Ancestor Alert by entering all of the information you know about him like location, birth and death year. We will do the hard work for you by searching for your great uncle in our database on a regular basis! In this way, Ancestor Alerts help you uncover hard-to-find ancestors without all of the leg work.

Hope you enjoy these two new features. Good luck on your journey, and Happy Holidays!
