This collection contains birth, baptism, and confirmation records from various Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregations and range from the mid-19th century through the early 20th century. The information contained in the records varies from congregation to congregation (and sometimes from minister to minister). Information can include the child's name, date and place of birth, date and place of baptism, date and place of confirmation, parents' names, name and location of the church, the event type, the title of the original record book, and a digital image of the record.
Kentucky, Birth Records, Early
Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives
Kentucky began keeping civil birth records as early as 1852. However, it was only required for ten years. Other attempts at birth registration ranged from 1874-1879 and 1892-1910. This collection from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives does not list all births in Kentucky from 1852-1910. Information in the records can include the name, gender, color/race, date and place of birth, parents' names, and the age and birthplace of the parents.
