Frost Genealogy & History
Frost has two possible origins, both with some evidence, and perhaps there are some Frosts taking their name from both categories. The first is from the old English "frost/forst", meaning snow, and was used either as a nickname for white-haired or white-bearded people or those with cold demeanor. The second is simpler: it was a name for people born when there was frost on the ground. Frost family history starts with William Forst, recorded in Hampshire's Domesday Book in 1086. Frost genealogy lays claim to many notable people, such as American poet Robert Frost, Confederate General Daniel Frost, and Wicca founder Gavin Frost.
