House Genealogy & History
House is an English name. It's originally derived from the Old English "hus", which means house. It was likely originally given to a person who worked at, or was in some way related to, the largest and most important building in the communityusually a church, convent, or monastery, or possibly a nobleman's house. House family history began in Berkshire, where they held a family seat for centuries. The first recorded member of the House family was Simon Hus (an alternate spelling) in 1226. House genealogy unfortunately does not include the fictional character Dr. Gregory House, but it does include the Venerable Francis House.
