Logan Genealogy & History
The surname Logan has various forms, including O'Logan and Lagan. It is of Scottish and Irish derivation, but it is believed to have originated in Normandy. In Ireland, it probably derived from the Gaelic name O'Leoghain, which means the son of the descendent of the warrior. Logan family history shows that the name was also recorded as "de Logan" in Normandy. The de Logans were part of the forces of Strongbow, Earl of Pembroke, when he invaded Ireland in 1170 AD. Logan genealogy shows that the name of Thurgand de Logyn was recorded in Scottish government rolls in 1296.
