Valencia Family History

Valencia Genealogy & History

Valencia is supposed to descend from pre-third-century saint Valentinius, who was martyred on February 14. It is from the Roman word valens, meaning robust and healthy. Some of the different spellings include Valensius, Valence, Valencay, Valentinus, Falencius, and Falencia. The family coat of arms is three silver roses on a green shield. Valencia family history gives the first known recording of the name as Matilda Valentyn in the register of Ramsey Abbey, Huntingdon, England, in 1251. Some members of the Valencia genealogy are realtor and political worker Valerie J. Valencia; automotive dealership owner Henry Valencia; and public administrator Amalia Valencia.
