The Galveston County Clerk is responsible for recording, distributing and maintaining vital records, business records, real estate, land and tax records, and personal property tax records. The Galveston County Clerk also supports the local civil, criminal and probate courts in Galveston County. Birth and death certificates are not available for online search. In Texas, birth certificates are protected for 75 years after the date of birth, and death certificates are protected for 25 years and can only be viewed by qualified individuals.
