Hunt County was first established in 1846, and Greenville was chosen as the county seat at that time. The original log courthouse for the county was not built until 1847, and it was replaced by a brick building a few years later. Today, the records are still held at the current Hunt County Courthouse, where they can be accessed through the Hunt County Clerk.
