Ohio Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers
Residents of the Buckeye State that are interested in creating their family trees may find the work to be more challenging than originally expected. Information about genealogy and ancestry is often hard to come by, unless you know where to look. The Ohio family history centers, located throughout the state, offer one of the best collections of ancestry research resources in the country. These offices serve as branches of the larger Family History Library in Utah - the largest of its kind in the world. The centers are operated by the Ohio LDS church and provide a wealth of microfilm, print and computer resources to help you discover your family's origins.

Ohio Genealogy Resources
Ohio--along with Indiana and Kentucky--was part of the Northwest Territory created in 1787 by the Continental Congress. Its central position between the Northeast and the West helped it attract settlers from all areas and ethnic groups. Ohio--a public land state--was admitted into statehood in 1803. Statewide birth and death records registration started in 1908; marriage records in 1949 (check individual counties for earlier records). Whether your ancestors lived in or passed through the "Buckeye State," there are a plethora of resources to help you track their comings and goings.
