Oregon Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers

Oregon is home to many colorful characters, some of whom are interested in finding where their family history began. To help them in their search, the Oregon LDS church has established Oregon family history centers that serve as offshoots to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. These centers have access to a wealth of research material, including microfiche, print documents and computer technology. A volunteer staff of church members is available to answer questions and provide insight on how to use the resources. The offices are open to the general public, although hours can vary. Contact the center near you to find a convenient time to visit.

Oregon's State Archives offers wonderful online resources. A great many indexes are online and they will answer simple research questions for free. See their online tour and fees for research and copying. Responses are made in seven to ten working days.
