Pennsylvania Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers
Pennsylvania is one of the oldest states in the union; home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. With such a rich and colorful history, it is no wonder residents of this great state enjoy researching their family roots to discover the contributions their clan members made to the development of this country. To assist them in their search, Pennsylvania family history centers have been established by the Pennsylvania LDS church to serve as offshoots to the Family History Library in Utah. These centers offer a wealth of research information, including computer technology, microfiche and an array of print documents to help Pennsylvania residents build their family genealogy trees.

Pennsylvania Genealogy Resources
Thanks to its central location in the original 13 colonies, Pennsylvania is known as the "Keystone State." Pennsylvania was first founded as a colony in 1682, and was admitted into statehood in 1787. Statewide registration of births and deaths started in 1906. Marriages have been recorded in counties since 1885. But your search shouldn't stop with vital records. In this state's many archives, libraries, and repositories, you'll find a wealth of documents including land, military, and religious records, ethnic manuscripts, newspapers, and other ephemera, to help you unlock key details about your ancestors.
