Wyoming Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers

Folks living in this western state that are interested in learning more about their family origins can find the information they are looking for at one of the many Wyoming family history centers located around the state. These centers are direct offshoots of the official Family History Library, located just southwest of Wyoming in Utah. Like the library, the centers are owned and operated by members of the Wyoming LDS church. Volunteers from the church work inside the office, answering questions and providing training sessions for visitors to the center. These facilities are available to the general public at no charge, so everyone can learn more about their family trees.

Wyoming Genealogy Resources

Wyoming is the Equality State, a distinction earned from being the first state to grant women the right to vote in 1869 and having the first woman governor in the United States. There is a lack of early records found in this state, after you exhaust those records make sure to look for information found in manuscript collections. Although these most likely won't be indexed according to your surname, they are the documents left behind by your ancestor's neighbors, friends and community members and they just might mention your ancestor by name.
