All birth and death certificates in the county are registered through this office and can be requested for a fee, payable in cheque, money order or cash (no debit or credit cards). Amador County was formed in 1854, and the clerk recorder's office has vital records including birth, death and marriage records dating back to 1872. Since state law did not require birth registration until 1915, earlier records may not be available.
