Amite County vital recordsThe Chancery Clerk for Amite County has on file at his office the land records for the county, as well as marriage, divorce, and others. The office, which is at 242 W Main St in Liberty, MS, is open to those requesting copies or wanting to research on Monday through Friday during normal business hours. To research or get copies of birth or death records, which are on file since 1912 to the present, individuals must contact the Mississippi State Department of Health's Vital Records Division. The division provides birth, death, and marriage certificate applications on its website, as well as accepts orders over the phone and through the mail. The Amite County Historical and Genealogical Society also maintains a large stock of local records and genealogical resources which are open to the public. The Society will mail records to those who request, and provide assistance to researchers, as well.
