Atoka County vital records can be obtained through the Atoka Department of Health in Atoka, either in person or by mail, or through the Oklahoma Department of Health or online (VitalChek) for $15. Statewide registration of births and deaths began in 1907, was compulsory in 1917, but compliance was not achieved until the 1940s. Additionally, birth records for living persons are released only to immediate family. Other vital records (marriage, divorce) may be obtained from the Atoka Clerk of Courts, with historical records available at the Oklahoma Historical Society.
