Louisiana vital records are no longer available in the individual parishes. The Vital Records Registry has maintained birth records since July 1914. Birth records for the city of New Orleans are available from 1892. Older birth records are available through the Louisiana State Archives, P.O. Box 94125, Baton Rouge, LA 70804 or by searching the Orleans Parish Birth Records Database and ordering certified copies of birth certificates for births that occurred in Orleans parish over 100 years ago.
