Brown County vital recordsThe Brown County Historical Society operates a Genealogy Center at 339 North Ash in the county seat of Ainsworth, NE. The center has a large amount of family histories and genealogical materials available for research, and Society members will perform research requests for the requested donation of $5 per hour. The office of the Brown County Register of Deeds also has property records, among others, on file at their location in the County Courthouse at 148 W. 4th, also in Ainsworth. To obtain vital records for the county, such as birth and death certificates, those interested will need to contact the vital records department of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The department is located at 1033 "O" Street in Suite 130 in Lincoln, and they have birth and death records on file from late 1904, and divorce and marriage records from early 1909.
