The Brule County Register of Deeds provides birth and death records issued after July 1905 to eligible individuals for a fee and with identification. For birth records older than 100 years, visit the searchable database at the South Dakota Department of Health. Marriage records begin in 1882, death records in 1960, burial records in 1941. The Sioux Indian Reservation, created in 1868 by a treaty between the United States government and the various tribes of Sioux Indians, includes portions of Brule County as well as parts of Hughes, Buffalo, and Charles Mix Counties.
