Birth records are confidential for 75 years and death records for 25 years. Records kept include birth and death certificates and marriage licenses. A fee schedule for certified copies of vital records is available at the website; a birth certificate costs $23.00; a death certificates is $21.00 with additional copies being 4.00, and there is no charge for a copy of a marriage certificate. Additionally, requests can be made online at Texas.gov or by mail through the state.
