Despite being the largest county in New Mexico as far as total land area, Catron County has the 3rd smallest population with about 3,700 residents in 2010. Both the County Clerk and the District Court are located in the Catron County Courthouse at 101 Main Street in the county seat of Reserve, NM. The District Court has divorce records on file, among others, while the Clerk's office has all remaining records that are open to the public, including tax, marriage, and property records, and others. All records in New Mexico are open to the public except for birth and death records dated more recently than 100 years ago. The office that maintains those is the NM Dept of Health
in Albuquerque. Because it is a state organization, they offer a number of ways to apply for certified copies of records, both in person, through the mail, as well as online.
