The Division of Vital Records in New Castle maintains birth and death records for 1906 on for Chester County. Marriage certificates can be obtained at the Register of Wills at the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester. The cost is $15.00 for a certified copy. Divorce records may be obtained at the Prothonotary Office in the same building; certified copies are $6.35 (includes four pages) and 60 for each additional page. Credit cards are not accepted. Chester County was one of the three original Pennsylvania counties created by William Penn in 1682.
