Clay County vital recordsClay County is one of many counties in the United States named after mid 1800s statesman and Senator, Henry Clay. The county in 1855 and is relatively small in both population and size. The county seat of Clay Center is home to the offices of the Register of Deeds and the County Clerk who handle most of the record keeping duties for the county. In addition to performing research at their offices at 111 W Fairfield St, the Nebraska State Historical Society offers a large number of records at its Archives Library. The library is located at 1500 "R" Street in Lincoln, NE, and is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00AM until 4:00PM, and Saturdays from 8:00AM until 5:00PM. Usage of the research room within the library is restricted to those hours of operation, as well, and library staff is on hand during them to assist in locating records.
