Requests for copies ($15) should be made in person or by mail to the Health Department in Lawton, or to the state Health Department, or to VitalChek online, with restrictions on records for persons still living. Requests for historical records should be directed to the Oklahoma Historical Society or the Southwest Oklahoma Genealogical Society in Lawton, and for marriage/divorce records to the Lawton Court Clerk. Comanche County, formerly Indian Territory of the Apache, Comanche, and Kiowa, was opened to non-Indians in 1901; in 1907-1912 parts were given to six other counties.
