Coos County vital recordsCoos County is in the unique position in that, while it has the largest land area in the state, it also has the smallest population with about 33,000 residents. The town of Lancaster is the county seat which is where a large portion of the county government offices are located. The county Registry of Deeds, located at 55 School Street in Suite 103, has real estate records dating back to 1771, all of which are open to the public. While the office does offer computer terminals to view records, only those dated from 1982 to the present are viewable on them. The office also provides an online database system that lists records dated from 01/01/1980 to the present online. Additional records, such as births and deaths, are on file with the Lancaster Town Clerk. That office also maintains divorce and marriage records.
