As Dewey has no county health department, request records in person or by mail to the state Health Department in Oklahoma City, or online to VitalChek. Marriage and divorce records are available from the Dewey County Clerk of Court and historical records from the Oklahoma Historical Society. A small county (population under 5000), Dewey was formerly part of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Reservation, opened to non-Indian settlers in 1892 under the name D County, and renamed in 1898.
