Dewey County, OK Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
Dewey County vital records date to 1907, but recordkeeping was not uniformly maintained until the 1940s. As Dewey has no county health department, request records in person or by mail to the state Health Department in Oklahoma City, or online to VitalChek. Record copies cost $15 but are restricted to family if the recordholder is alive. Marriage and divorce records are available from the Dewey County Clerk of Court and historical records from the Oklahoma Historical Society. A small county (population under 5000), Dewey was formerly part of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Reservation, opened to non-Indian settlers in 1892 under the name D County, and renamed in 1898.
