Douglas County vital recordsThe Douglas County Historical Society, in addition to the County Recorder, offers genealogy, vital records, and local historical resources for researchers both for free on its site, as well as making assistants available for various prices. They operate the Genealogy Guild, a group which meets once a month in the research library of the Society on the second Thursday at 2:00PM. The Society has a comprehensive library which is open to the public, however nonmembers of the group are charged $10 per day. Volunteer staff are present to assist with finding records and using the microfilm reader. The staff can also be retained to perform research, for which fees begin at $20. The County Recorder, in Alexandria, MN., also provides research resources and copies of records. Applications and fee schedules are listed on the main website. Birth, death, and marriage records for Douglas County begin in the mid 1800s and continue to the present.
