Franklin County vital recordsThe Franklin County Clerk of the Circuit Court is responsible for filing and processing divorces, adoption proceedings, and name changes, and for issuing marriage licenses. All records of this office are open to the public except sealed juvenile and adoption records. Vital records are available to qualified individuals for $12.00 at the Virginia Department of Health. Death, marriage, and divorce records become public after 50 years, birth records after 100. The Library of Virginia houses birth and death records (18531896) and marriage records (18531935). The Franklin County Historical Society provides free research assistance, including family research and marriage, birth, and death records.
