Garfield County vital records are available online through VitalChek or by mail, phone or in person at either the state Center for Health Statistics or at county agencies in Pomeroy. State recording commenced in 1907 for births/deaths and 1968 for marriages/divorces. While current and historical marriage information may be obtained through the Garfield County Auditor, and divorce information from the County Clerk, the Garfield County Health Department refers requests for birth and death records to the state office in Olympia. Historical records are maintained at the Washington State Archives. Garfield County, Washington's least populous county, was created out of Columbia County in 1881.
