George County, MS Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

George County vital recordsOne of the younger counties in Mississippi having been founded in 1910, George County has its Chancery Clerk's office located in the county seat of Lucedale, on 355 Cox St in #A. Property, adoption, and other records are maintained at that office, although only records which do not contain personally compromising information are made public. Adoption records, for instance, are private. For additional vital records, such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, the state of Mississippi operates its own Vital Records Department through the State Department of Health. The office is open to the public, and copies can either be obtained there, through the mail, over the phone, or online. Credit cards are an acceptable form of payment for the latter two options, with the state being partnered up with the VitalChek service. Marriage records on file with the department begin in 1926, while birth and death records begin in 1912.
