Goodhue County Recorder's Office is responsible for the distribution and recording of all vital statistics and genealogical records for the county. Birth records
are listed from 1870 to the present and are generally open to the public. Also, certified birth certificates are available from 1935 to the present, and uncertified copies are listed from 2000. To obtain a certified copy, the person requesting the record must demonstrate a tangible interest, which is to say, must either be the original recipient of the certificate, provably related, or legally connected in some way. Death certificates are subject to the same criteria, and death records are listed from 1870 to the present. Both birth and death certificates can be obtained through the mail, or from the office directly. For viewing property records, Goodhue County offers the LandShark program
, a subscription based online database which has records dated back to 1947.
