Hidalgo County, NM Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Hidalgo County vital recordsHidalgo County is the 6th least populated county in the state with just a little bit over 5,000 residents, and the county seat of Lordsburg contains over half of them. The county is located at the far south corner of the state, and actually borders Mexico to the south and Arizona to the west. The New Mexico Department of Health registers all of the vital records for the state and provides various options for acquiring certified copies via their main website. Most records on file with the office, however, are not available for research since birth certificates only become part of the public record upon reaching 100 years of age, and death records upon reaching 50 years. The department began compiling records in 1919. For other records, such as property or marriage, the office of the County Clerk is the local recorder, and all documents on file there are open to the public.
