Howard County vital recordsHoward County has approximately 6,500 residents and is considered part of Grand Island Micropolitan Statistical Area which has about 70,000 residents altogether. About a third of the county's populace reside in the county seat of St. Paul, NE, which is also where the Howard County Historical Society maintains a variety of local records. The St. Paul Library has a number of those records, including census records, historical photographs, and other materials. The County Clerk also has marriage and naturalization records dating from 1872 to the present, as well as a large number of property records with varying dates. The Clerk of the County Court maintains probate records, while the Assessor has county school records, including censuses and student records, dated from 1880 to the present. The above mentioned offices are all housed in the courthouse at 612 Indian Street in St. Paul.
