The County Clerk's office encourages genealogy and vital records researchers to visit, though a maximum of two at a time applies. Birth and death records are listed from 1867 to the present. Marriage records are from 1837, not long after the establishment of the county, to the present. Divorce records are not available at the office. Not only is Lansing the 5th largest city in Michigan, Ingham County is not far from Detroit, the largest city in the state.
