Island County vital recordsIsland County, consisting of two large and seven smaller islands, was created in 1852 out of Thurston County. Copies of birth (since 1921) and death (60 days only) records are available from the Vital Statistic Program of the Island County Public Health Department in Coupeville, with records since 1907 available from the Washington Department of Health Center for Health Statistics in Olympia or VitalChek. For records before 1907, inquiries should be directed to the Washington State Archives. Requests for marriage/divorce certificates can be directed to the County Auditor or County Clerk Offices in Coupeville or to the state Center for Health Statistics.
