The Recorder is in charge of property and marriage records, and can be email with any questions. The Circuit Clerk, in charge of civil and criminal records, such as divorces, has offices in both Carthage, and Joplin, the largest city in the county. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00AM until 5:00PM, however is closed from noon until 1:00PM every day. The Jasper County Health Department, the local source for birth and death certificates, is also in Carthage, and has birth and death records available dated from 1920 to the present, however only qualified individuals may obtain them.
