Leflore County, MS Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
Leflore County has two genealogical research groups, the county branches of the USGenWeb Program, and Linkpendium. Both sites provide large amounts of genealogical and historical records and documents, all of them available for free to the public, and some, such as the land records and marriage indexes from Linkpendium, date back to the late 1700s. The county Chancery Clerk, as well, is in Greenwood, MS, and records property transactions for the area, as well as distributes copies of records to those who request them. The Vital Records divisions of the State Department of Health supplies certified copies of birth and death records, indexed from 1912 along with marriage certificates beginning in 1926. The main vital records office is in Jackson, MS, at 571 Stadium Drive, and they can be emailed with any inquiries or requests.
