The largest town in Linn County is the town of Brookfield, which is where the Linn County Historical Society & Museum, as well as the County Health Department are both located. The Society operates the museum on 303 N Livingston St and provides a fair number of local historical records and genealogy resources. The Health Department, which is the local branch of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
, serves as the local access point for birth and death records, the former available from 1910, and the latter listed since 1980. The Department is physically located at 635 South Main and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30AM until 4:30PM. The Linn County seat is the town of Linneus and is where both the Circuit Clerk, in charge of divorce records, and Recorder of Deeds, the custodian of property and marriage records, are located, both on 108 N High Street.
