A little less than half of them reside in the county seat of Stapleton, NE, which is also one of only two towns in the county. The office of the County Clerk/Register of Deeds in the county courthouse handles a variety of records for the area, however birth and death records are handled by the Office of Vital Records in Lincoln. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services maintains the office which has records dating from the early 1900s to the present. In addition to birth and death certificates, marriage and divorce records are also available from the office, also dated from the early 1900s, and all applicable information on applying for copies or researching is provided online.
