Marlboro County, created in 1785 as part of the Cheraws District, has maintained vital records since 1915 at the Public Health Department Vital Records office. Certified copies of birth/death certificates are available to family members when ordered in person or by mail, with identification, or online through VitalChek. The $12 fee includes a search plus copy. Death records before 1961 and all vital records 1641-1914 are available at the state Department of Archives and History. The state Department of Health website provides a free index for 1915-1960 deaths.
