Vermont vital records are stored in the Department of Health's Vital Records Section for five years, at which point they are transferred to the State Archives and Records Administration in the Secretary of State's office. Vermont marriage records, as well as records for civil unions and divorces, are available for $10 in either case, payable by check or money order to the Department of Health in the former case and Secretary of State in the latter. Vermont divorce records can also be obtained from the family court in the county where the divorce was granted, while marriage records are similarly stored by the town or city clerk that issued the license. In 1932, Vermont was one of only two states not to vote for Franklin Delano Roosevelt over Alf Landon, along with Maine, both of which Roosevelt lost all four times.
