Marshall County vital recordsIn addition to the Public Health Statistics department connected with the Mississippi State Department of Health, the Chancery Clerk for Marshall County maintains records for the area. While the Clerk is the custodian of public land records, the Statistics department maintains and distributes vital records, such as marriages, listed from 1928, and deaths and births, both listed from 1912. Both offices are open to members of the public who wish to research the available records or obtain copies of those they are qualified for. Applications for records from the Statistics department are available online and can be mailed in or taken to the office in person to 571 Stadium Drive in Jackson, MS. Records can also be applied for and purchased online or over the phone. The Marshall County Genealogical Society also has a number of records indexed at the Marshall County Library, including census indexes from 1820 to 1920, newspapers on microfilm from 1840 to 1987, and more, as well as a large amount available online.
