Maverick County, TX Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Maverick County vital recordsThe Maverick County Clerk takes care of records for births, deaths, and marriages going back as far as 1903. The courthouse is in the county seat, Eagle Pass. In the same building, the District Clerk handles divorce records. Architectural studies show that, long before the advent of European explorers and settlers, the Maverick area was inhabited by hunter gatherers, and then, periodically, by bands of Coahuiltecan Indians. Named for Samuel A. Maverick, the county was carved from Kinney County in 1856. It is notable that the vote of Eagle Pass against secession from the Union was an overwhelming eighty to three.
