Mayes County vital records, dating from 1907 at the Oklahoma Health Department in Oklahoma City, are available in person or by mail, and online through VitalChek. Birth and death records are also available locally at the County Health Department in Pryor, with the restriction that birth records for living individuals are released to immediate family only. Although statewide recording of vital records was mandated in 1917, compliance was spotty until the 1940s. The Oklahoma Historical society maintains historical records, with marriage/divorce records available from the County Court Clerk in Pryor.
