Divorce is handled by the District Clerk. Midland is the county seat and home to the Midland County Historical Museum, housed in the Midland County Library. There visitors may view photographs of early Midland history; pioneer relics; mementos of the Civil War and both World Wars; replicated remains of the 20,00-year-old Midland Man; and Indian artifacts. The remains of Midland Man, discovered on the Scharbauer Ranch in 1953, have been tentatively determined to belong to the Folsom culture of the late Pleistocene age.
