Mills County vital recordsThe County Clerk of Mills County, Texas is responsible for vital records: births, deaths and marriage, and divorce. Records date from foundation of the county. Birth records have not been kept since about 1990, when Mills County lost its hospital. Birth records are restricted to members of the immediate family for 75 years. There is no on-line search capability for Mills County vital records. Records are kept in the county courthouse in Goldthwaite, the county seat. Apaches and Comanches hunted in the region and fought over it until the mid-nineteenth century. Early European settlers were largely German. The area was known for lawlessness after the Civil War.
