Nolan County, TX Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
The Nolan County Clerk manages vital records for births, deaths and marriages in the Nolan County Courthouse in Sweetwater (originally Sweet Water); records date from the formation of the County from the Young-Bexar territory by the Texas legislature in 1876. Divorce is handled by the District Clerk. The first Caucasian settlers did not enter this territory until after the Civil War; they were buffalo hunters. Ranching and then farming became popular. The Sweetwater Rattlesnake Round-Up, held in March, is the largest tourist attraction in Nolan County. Genealogical services are available through the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records.Nolan County Recorder Office - Birth, Death, Marriage & Divorce Records
