Oakland County, MI Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Oakland County vital recordsBecause vital record research space is very limited and can only accommodate one researcher at a time, the Oakland County Clerk provides convenient alternatives through their website. Instructions and forms to request birth, death, and marriage certificates are all provided online, as well as a free-to-use online database which contains almost all death and marriage records occurring from 1941 to the present. To access older or unavailable records, individuals will need to visit the County Clerk's office in person. The office is open every weekday from 8:30AM till 4:00PM, except for Wednesdays. Because of the restricted space, those interested should contact the Vital Records Department before going to make sure their schedule has room. The department can be emailed directly at clerkvital@oakgov.com, or called at (248) 858-0571. Marriage and naturalization records are both available starting in 1827 to the present, and divorce records begin in 1867 to the present.
