The Oklahoma Historical society maintains historical records, with marriage and divorce records available from the County Clerk in Pawnee. Originally Osage buffalo hunting grounds, Pawnee County was settled by Cherokee and Pawnee (as County Q) prior to its founding in 1893 when open to non-Indian settlement.
