Putnam County, NY Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
Putnam County was established in 1812 after the area comprising it was split from a number of other counties. It is one of the richest counties in the country and is located just a bit north of New York City. The Putnam County Historian offers a huge amount of records and historical information as well as operates the County Archives and a research library. The Historian works in conjunction with the County Clerk, and between the two departments, such records as criminal and civil court records dating from the late 1700s to the present, mortgage and property records dating from 1791 to 1932, naturalization records from 1842 to 1929, and marriage records from 1908 to 1935 are all available, as well as a vast amount more. The majority of records on file with both offices are open to the public. Putnam County Recorder Office - Birth, Death, Marriage & Divorce Records
