Ramsey County, MN Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
Ramsey County, a very small county with over 500,000 residents, making it the most densely populated county in the state, has a dedicated Vital Records Department dedicated to the indexing and distribution of all the records for the county, with the exception of divorce records which are handled by civil and family courts, depending on the date of the record. The Vital Records department is located in the St. Paul-Ramsey County Department of Public Health on 555 Cedar St., in St. Paul, MN. Records can be obtained either in person, or via requests through the mail, and all records are available from approximately 1870 to the present, except for marriage records, which begin in 1850. To schedule a research appointment, or for any questions, the Vital Records department can be emailed directly. The Ramsey County Historical Society operates a research center which also has vital records for the area and is open to the public.
